Larger than life character and very well respected within the refrigeration trade, Brian Nicholson is the Managing Director of Elite Specialist Training Ltd..
Brian’s background was as a time served refrigeration service and installation engineer. From his early days “On The Tools” at L Sterne & Co and H C Troldahl, both based in the north east of England, Brian decided his future lay in the design and contracting side of the business. Moving away from Tyneside in the mid 70’s, to top refrigeration contractors Southern & Redfern in Bradford, then onto to the Liverpool area to work for Walkers Refrigeration and Industrial Cooling Equipment, meant Brian gained a wealth of understanding of design and contracting in both supermarket and industrial design applications and contracting procedures. Later, Brian decided to learn another aspect of the trade and turned to Searle Manufacturing in Fareham to progress into the sales and marketing side of the business. Brian covered the North of England as Northern Area Sales Manager before joining a rival training establishment as their Development and Training Manager.
Over the years, Brian has seen a huge decline in the general standards of service diagnostics and installation procedures. This is mainly due to the severe lack of suitable refrigeration and air conditioning training and associated training facilities. Brian benefited immensely from working within the refrigeration industry and decided to try and put back into the trade some of his 40 year’s substantial expertise.
From the outset, and to ensure the best pupil / trainer teaching ratios for any hands-on course, Brian insisted that the Company would only ever take a maximum of 4 delegate bookings per course. Design and Introductory courses are slightly different because there is no practical work involved and the course numbers can safely be raised to 8 delegates. With only 4 delegates on practical courses, this generally means that courses are heavily over subscribed and anyone wanting to book our courses should take this into consideration.
