Elite Specialist Training Ltd. is approved by the Construction Industry Training Board to assess candidates for the Safe Handling of Refrigerants Certification.
Similar in content to the City & Guilds 2078 Safe Handling Assessment, candidates must complete a written examination set by the CITB and a practical assessment to show their ability to handle refrigerants safely.
Following a “Pass” grade and upon satisfactory completion of the course, the Candidate may be entered onto the CITB register. Voluntary registration with the ACRIB Register Of Certificated Refrigerant Handlers is also available. To remain on either register, candidates must be re-assessed every 3 years.
Topics covered include such items as COSHH, Health & Safety at Work, the Montreal Protocol, the Environmental Protection Act, BS EN 378, LPG’s as refrigerants, Enziotropes (inc. Glide & Slide) and much more. As from April 9th, 2007 for CFC’s and July 4th, 2007 for HFC’s, it will be a compulsory requirement for any person who handles refrigerants or breaks into any refrigeration or air conditioning system, to have this qualification as an absolute minimum.
It is strongly recommended that unless well experienced in refrigeration engineering, this assessment should be taken at the end of one of our training courses. Specific additional training is available to those who require it.
Upgrades from previous assessments are also available.
The course is suitable for refrigeration and air conditioning engineers and technicians, experienced apprentices and any plant engineer involved with the charging, recovery and disposal of refrigerants.
Course duration is 2 days or 1 day for renewal.
Comprehensive CITB course documentation is provided.
